I’ve finally recovered enough to get the Website updated, the Championship tables filled in and a final little post about how amazing the Wessex Challenge was at the weekend – and I was just sat watching you guys doing the hard work!
There is no question that 2 days of racing are harder than 1, but it didn’t show one bit! Racing was just as hard on the Finals of the Sunday as the Qualifying was on Saturday. Every driver was out there to win.
We were very happy to see the return of the TKM’s with many drivers coming down to practice ahead of the Super One round on 3rd and 4th of June.
After seeing such close racing with our club members last year, the bar was high, but the visitors did not let us down. Thank you to everyone who made it. We really appreciate the overwhelmingly positive feedback you have given us and we wish you all the best of luck for June. Hopefully, we’ll see you all again soon!
With healthy grids in all of the classes, we were almost guaranteed some of the closest racing all year, but we had no idea just how close it would get. With the perfect example being the Honda Cadet final where, after nipping at Charlie Vaughans heels for 5 laps, Joshua Whittington-Couch took the win in the final sprint to the line, by a staggering 1/100th of a second!
With a few bumps and scrapes, not everyone’s weekend went as smoothly as it could have. A notable example being Joe Walmsley who, completely out of the norm, managed to have heavy impacts with the barriers in 2 of his races on Sunday. Thankfully, everyone who did get involved in an incident was able to walk away, albeit a little sore.
With all competitors and organisers alike having such a fantastic weekend, it’s difficult to find a reason not to continue the Wessex Challenge next year… Watch this space as we’ll almost certainly be including it in the 2018 line-up.
Finally, a little later than normal, Entries are open for the fifth round of the CPKC Championship. Entries can be made by snail mail if you prefer and forms can be found on our website (check out the top-right hand corner) – but, if like most, you prefer speed, online entries can be completed in just 2 minutes and its completely free!

Steve Wood Kart Photography has already started uploading after taking around a staggering 3,500 photos – don’t forget that if you can’t find what you’re looking for, all you need to do is ask and Steve will have a hunt through.
Finally, thank you to everyone who makes the race meetings happen, the Marshals, Officials, Spectators, but most of all, you guys, the competitors.
If we don’t see you in 3 weeks for the Super One Championship, we’ll see you in 4 for Round 5!.
